Nuvola has been working with content creator Juju Sheikh on her Cloud Nine Collective app for over 3 years now. Through her app, Juju offers a health, wellbeing and fitness subscription, mainly targeting young women. It includes a guided fitness plan and automatic meal planning, drawing from hundreds of workout videos and recipes created by Juju.
Juju’s latest idea, conceived earlier in 2024, was to combine the features of menstrual cycle tracking apps that are available with her own fitness videos. This seemed to us like a great idea, something that doesn’t really seem to exist in the market. There is also a big focus in the media at the moment on designing training programmes specifically around women’s bodies. It’s great for us as a small software house to be a part of that.
The menstrual cycle can be divided into four distinct phases, and during each the kinds of exercise you should do should vary. So, as well as adding some targeted workouts, Juju has tagged all of her video content for the various different phases.
When a subscriber switches to the ‘Cycle Syncing’ workout guide, they are asked to enter some details about when their last period was, and the app does the rest. It schedules workouts for the coming weeks according to the cycle phase that it calculates. There’s also a handy ‘cycle calendar’ to show when the upcoming phases fall and help the user to plan her life (not just her workouts!) around her cycle.
Juju said, “My aim is to make the women who subscribe to my app feel great. With this new feature, we can help people to exercise in sync with their bodies and to feel so much better. I’m really proud to be able to offer something that’s not just innovative, but will make such a positive impact on people’s lives. As ever, the team at Nuvola have risen to the challenge and delivered something that’s both easy to use and works great.”
As for us, we’re proud of the technology we’ve built behind the scenes, but also of what this means for Juju’s subscribers around the world. If you’d like to try it out, the app download links are on the Cloud Nine Collective website. For content creators who have innovative ideas of their own, we’d love to have a chat!
